The client repository contains the code which targets any requirements that are specific to the client’s needs. This repository is under full control and ownership of the client. The client repository code leverages functionality from the montrek base repository.

Optional, commonly required functionality such as the provision of country data are packaged into montrek common repositories. Like the client repository, the montrek common repositories leverage functionality from the montrek base repository and are accessible by the client.

The montrek base repository is the core of the montrek application. It provides basic functionality such as data input and output, standard user interfaces, reporting or mailing. The base repository is built on top of the Django framework. All code is fully accessible by the client.

The Data Vault architecture is a methodology for designing data warehouses that focuses on scalability, flexibility, and agility by organizing data into three core components: hubs (business keys), links (relationships), and satellites (descriptive data). Changes to each data point are tracked over time, allowing the retrieval of past versions or states of the data. Per default, montrek uses a PostgreSQL database backend, but other technologies are also possible.

Docker is a technology that enables us to package the montrek application and its dependencies into portable, isolated containers that can run consistently across different environments such as a developer's local machine, testing and production servers, or cloud platforms.
